April is the Month of the Military Child, a time to recognize and celebrate the strength, resilience, and sacrifices of students whose families serve in our armed forces.

We encourage everyone to wear purple on April 15 for Purple Up Day as a visible show of support and appreciation for military children across our district and community.

Horry County Schools is proud to announce the Top 5 finalists for our district’s Support Staff of the Year. These exceptional individuals were selected from this year’s site-level honorees for their dedication, professionalism, and the meaningful impact they make in their schools and workplaces every day.

Mr. Clifford Jones, Superintendent of Horry County Schools, will be holding “Coffee and Conversation with Cliff” events throughout the school year.

The events will both consist of informal listening sessions and discussions. Everyone is invited, and no registration or appointment is needed. Come to any event that meets your schedule.

Horry County Schools’ performance on the 2025 state report cards, based on overall ratings, shows that 38 out of 57 district schools were rated as Excellent or Good. Of those, 16 HCS schools were rated Excellent and 22 were rated Good, while 18 earned a score of Average.

HCS Scholars Academy High School is ranked #1 of all 1,309 schools in the state, earning a report card score of 99.7 out of 100!

Rise with Reading is a districtwide literacy challenge designed to motivate and celebrate reading among our 48,000 K-12 students. Through achievable goals, recognition, and engaging resources, we aim to build a community of readers and celebrate the joy of learning.
